Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update

With the announce by the government on the 20th March 2020 most UK dance schools and studios were closed until further notice. All leisure facilities and village halls have been advised the same and there fore reducing the ability to practice and take lessons, many teachers have taken to online learning platforms, however please consult your insurance policies before enacting this. On Tuesday 24th March the government advised -

Stay at home

  • Only go outside for food, health reasons or work (but only if you cannot work from home)

  • Stay 2 metres (6ft) away from other people

  • Wash your hands as soon as you get home

You can spread the virus even if you don’t have symptoms.

Competition Update

Currently all UK Competitions are postposed and the DPA/WDC AL European Blackpool championships has been moved to the autumn, with the British Open Festival and Junior British festivals moved to August/September. Please see website for latest updates

Government Support for Dancers

The Government has put aid packages in place and as competitive dancers everyone will be in a slightly different position depending on their setup. For Dance Studios/School owners the government has issued grants dependant on your rateable value and No business rates for 2020/2021 for D1/D2 properties. Loan packages are also available with criteria from your local lenders.

Self Employed dance teachers will be able to apply for Universal Tax Credits and announce 26th March, 80% of your last three years profits on your tax return 16/17, 17/18, 18/19. Further information can be found below.
